was born in Ehingen/Germany. She is an established photographer, working extensively in the domain of sports and music. Sonja is recognised in Germany for her distinctive editorial, advertising and portrait work for leading publication. Since being selected by Getty Images at Cannes Lions Advertising Festival as one of the new up and coming photographers of 2007 her work has found a worldwide audience. Sonja´s strong unusual lighting schemes fuse with dynamic compositions to forge a transcendent vision of a twilight world that is simultaneously real and unreal, earthly and sublime. Her animated subjects demand the viewer to focus, then refocus in an almost syncopated manner. Her technique is bold and innovative, enabling her to create photos that, in the words of british photographer and publisher Rankin, are iconographic without looking unnatural. Sonja lives in Berlin.
